As a three-time breastfeeding mom and CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor), I have the knowledge and experience to help answer most breastfeeding questions and issues after baby’s debut.
In addition to having my support, effective August 2019, Mother Heart Birth Services is proud to partner with Shonte’ of YOLO Breastfeeding to ensure you have the best possible breastfeeding experience with your new bundle of joy!
I’m just a call or text away if you need support with lactation, especially in those first few weeks! If your questions are better answered by the gold standard of lactation professionals, an IBCLC, then Shonte’ is who you want in your corner.
Meet Shonte’: Shonte’ Terhune-Smith is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, birth and postpartum doula and health educator. Over the past five years, she has worked diligently in Genesee County to increase breastfeeding rates. She has worked in the hospital as a lactation intern and at various pediatric and obstetrician clinics, promoting and educating women about breastfeeding. Normalizing breastfeeding is her passion.
Shonte’ is the owner of You Overcoming Lactation Obstacles (YOLO). She empowers and provides culturally competent, evidence-based breastfeeding support and services to Genesee County families and surrounding area. With skilled professional support by a Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) mothers find solutions and ultimately reach their breastfeeding goals.
Shonte’ understands that breastfeeding works better when the mother has a village of support to overcome the barriers families face. She is also a member of the Southeast Michigan IBCLC’s of Color.

As a benefit of our partnership, my doula clients are eligible for reduced pricing for these lactation services!
$175 for both the prenatal breastfeeding class and postpartum lactation consultant services
$140 for postpartum lactation consultant services (as long as you sign up for them prenatally)
$160 for postpartum lactation consultant services as an add-on (signing up after baby has arrived)

With my CLC knowledge, I can attend to basic lactation needs, such as weight gain questions, milk transfer, latch, and more!
$75 for in-person postpartum lactation services (additional $25 for clients who live over 20 miles away from Grand Blanc, Michigan) for up to 90 minutes of one-on-one support and assessment.
$50 for virtual postpartum lactation services, for up to 90 minutes of one-on-one support and assessment.
I accept PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, Zelle, Cash, or Check.
50% required upon booking appointment and the other 50% at the conclusion.
